Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” Mark 6:31
Come and Rest recognises the need for those working in our busy schools to have time apart to rest and reflect and so offers the opportunity to spend time away from the pressures and busyness. It aims to gives those attending the space in which to explore their relationship with God, and how this relates to their experience in schools.
Through a combination of led meditations and personal space, Come and Rest will renew your vision and sense of purpose and remind you of your place as a loved child of God. It will offer opportunities to explore how your personal faith can be integrated with your vocation to teach or work with children.
Ideal for those who have never been on a quiet day before and for those with more experience.

Every Child Matters in the extended schools of the 21st century. How can Christians in school leadership create a learning environment where all young people can flourish?
Understanding pressures on young people, building relationships, encouraging strong families and social cohesion, releasing potential, managing behaviour, creating opportunities for spiritual development are all responsibilities of school leaders. This conference explored some of these issues in the context of both primary and secondary schools.
The aim of this conference was to offer busy Christian teachers and teaching assistants time to stop, think and reflect. Delegates were invited to consider how our understanding of the ‘wholeness’ of the person, of life and of God’s world influences both the task of teaching and the promotion of pupil and staff wellbeing.
Exploring the relationship between distinctive Christian education and building a cohesive society.
Our 2009 conference was privileged to welcome two excellent plenary speakers, Paul Woolley and Revd Jeff Astley, who helped us explore these issues in relation to education from complementary perspectives.
The National Conference for Christians in School Leadership draws together Christian school leaders for two days of professional, personal and spiritual development in the pleasant surroundings of Coton House conference centre near Rugby. Delegates are drawn from the maintained and church school sectors, from independent schools and include diocesan advisors with responsibility for Christian Leadership in schools.
Our 2010 conference recognises the fact that we are living in challenging times. Many children struggle to face difficult and challenging circumstances. Schools bear the extra responsibilities of supporting, developing and nurturing these children.
How can Christian teachers and school leaders respond to the challenges they face in educating children to live in a rapidly changing world? Can Christian values help to support pupils as they experience difficult and challenging circumstances throughout their lives?
Interspersed with time for prayer, worship, rest and reflection our speakers will all bring a Christian perspective on Education for Life: Learning to Live in Challenging Times.
What does it mean to think ethically as a teacher? How do we do this responsibly, and maintain the integrity of our Christian faith? Join us for stimulating and lively discussion as we explore these relevant issues in the education field. In addition to this, we are keen to promote work by emergent Christian academics in the sphere of Christian education. There will be an opportunity at the 2010 conference to present and discuss work undertaken by a number of research students. To participate in this, please contact us.
Aiming Higher - Authentic Christian leadership in 21st century schools. This conference aimed to give room for stretching the mind, refreshing the spirit and connecting with other Christians in school leadership. Although the conference was affected by the heavy snow, delegates were able to draw inspiration and some real-life, practical insight into what it means to be a Christian in school leadership in the UK as well as in Uganda.
Dr Elizabeth Green will present her research into the impact of Christian ethos on student culture at Emmanuel City Technology College. The Emmanuel Schools Foundation (ESF) sponsors a CTC and three Academies in the North East of England. This research was the first to be carried out at an ESF school and Elizabeth’s analysis offers an important critique of the interaction between enterprise, business and faith in the new Academies. Designed to be a jumping off point for discussion, this presentation will be a very practical introduction to the issues facing policy makers, education practitioners, parents and pupils.

The National Conference for Christians in School Leadership provides delegates with the opportunity to receive professional and personal development in a uniquely Christian setting. High calibre speakers enable delegates to reflect on their role and how their faith can sustain, nurture and develop them as educational leaders.
Anger, Love and Courage: Exploring the Role of Justice in School Leadership will allow Christian school leaders to consider the place of justice in education at a national, regional and local level.
Our speakers, Steve Chalke and Richard Rowe, will explore how justice has shaped their vision for education and will provide personal insights into how a commitment to justice can change schools and school leadership.
Delegates will be given time to apply what they have learnt to their own leadership context and to consider how their concept of justice affects the way they lead and manage teaching and learning.
